‘What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops: the Angel is coming.’

Introducing OX, an exciting new original immersive production from choreographer, director, filmmaker and regular Punchdrunk performer Vinicius Salles.

OX tells the story of a dark city, dirty and irredeemable; among its inhabitants a half man/half beast who roams its labyrinthine streets ready to devour any fools who dare to cross him, and an angel, newly arrived, with a mission to save at least one man, before the city is destroyed. As a carnival sweeps them up in its wake, both will be tempted by the masked crowds, and find themselves lost in the maze around them.

Fusing installation, dance and immersive theatre, this is an exciting new experience that will allow the audience to interact with the story.

All this week at the New Theatre Royal (17 – 21 July), Vinicius Salles has been implementing Phase One of the production, researching and exploring the interplay between performers and audience within this a city lost in time and space.

Alongside the research, daily morning workshops have been happening all week at the theatre, teaching local professionals and residents new physical theatre and contemporary dance techniques.

From Portsmouth, the production is moving onto Croydon and Canterbury. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to collaborate and participate in a production of this kind.
