FREE ARTS WORKSHOPS
27 November
A great day of workshops at Portsmouth Guildhall for primary schools. Music, arts, craft,
story-telling, singing and drama – and it’s all FREE!
Jump Start is an exciting new project for Portsmouth Schools – a partnership
formed by The New Theatre Royal, Aspex Art Gallery and the Portsmouth
Cultural Trust (Portsmouth Guildhall). The three organisations have come
together to provide a wide range of FREE workshops and activities in schools,
together with subsidised special events, visits and performances intended to
enhance and develop arts provision in schools and support learning in and out of
the classroom.
We are starting with a great event in Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday 27
November – a day of creative workshops for primary schools. Using a wide range
of art, music and drama activities your students can join in participatory
workshops. The workshops will be united around the theme of “Winter”.
The pupils will work with professional artists who specialise in working with young
children and who run activities for Aspex, Portsmouth Cultural Trust and
The New Theatre Royal on a regular basis.
There will be 2 sessions – one in the morning (9.30am – 12noon) and one in the
afternoon (12.30 – 3pm). Each child will be able to participate in 2 workshops
during their visit.
Numbers are limited to 180 in the morning and 180 in the afternoon and, as this
is bound to be a popular event, we are limiting the numbers to 1 class per school
per session. So you can bring 2 groups to the Guildhall – one in the morning and
one in the afternoon.
