New Theatre Royal’s Lab Associates, Filksit Theatre, will be launching their latest production this September at the prestigious Unicorn Theatre in London, the UK’s leading professional theatre for young audiences. Commissioned by the Unicorn, ‘Breaking the Ice’ will bring together an exciting world of theatre and digital technology.
Filskit Theatre are one of several Lab Associates that form New Theatre Royal’s Creative Lab; a new arts collaborative programme that enables experimentation to flourish and inspire artistic talent.
Founded in 2009 by Katy Costigan, Victoria Dyson and Sarah Gee, Filskit Theatre is a Gosport-based theatre company that combines physical performance and multimedia to deliver thought provoking productions for young audiences.
The theatre company are currently working on their latest production ‘Breaking the Ice’, which will run at the Unicorn throughout September.
Inspired by the incredible true story of a wild polar bear who makes friends with a Husky, the non-verbal show playfully uses live music and beautiful projection to tell this delightful tale of an unlikely friendship.
Exploring themes of communication, negotiation and sharing, the interactive piece combines technology with playful performance and live music to ignite the imaginations of children and their families.

Since becoming Lab Associates at New Theatre Royal in 2013, Filskit Theatre has enjoyed huge success. They recently completed a tour of the South East with ‘The Feather Catcher’ and will be taking part in Portsmouth Festivities with their production ‘Our Island’.
Sarah Gee commented, “Being an associate of New Theatre Royal has really helped us to expand our creative practice and has opened up opportunities to take part in various projects to help us develop and grow. We are very excited about our next production at the Unicorn and hope that this opens up even more doors for us.”
