To celebrate our upcoming Christmas show Peter Pan, we have launched a new creative competition that will give students the chance to see their teacher take flight!
To enter, school children aged 5-11 in Hampshire need to create a piece of artwork inspired by JM Barrie’s iconic Neverland. Students are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild and embrace a range of mediums to reimagine the famous utopia – whether that is drawing, painting or digital representations.
The creations will then be showcased throughout November and December in Portsmouth Central Library and Cascades Shopping Centre.
Cascades Centre Manager, Andrew Philip, said: “Everyone at the centre is delighted to be supporting New Theatre Royal with its Neverland Art Competition. We’re thrilled that we’re able to give students from across the city a chance to have their work displayed to the public. We are very much looking forward to having the entries on show in Cascades.”
To help us judge the entries, we’ve partnered with Portsmouth’s leading contemporary art gallery, Aspex Gallery who will pick the three winning schools that will be awarded £100, £50 and £30 respectively to put towards a selection of art supplies.
The class awarded first place will also be personally invited to visit our historic theatre for an exclusive tour and a chance to see their own class teacher take flight – like Peter Pan himself – on our professional stage.
